The Houston Amateur Golf Association marshaled Hole 8 at the 2012 Shell Houston Open for the second year in a row. Due to a rain shortened first round, we worked two long days on Friday and Saturday to help get the tournament back on schedule for a Sunday finish. Many thanks to Ken Barnum for assuming the duties of the hole captain.

Our group continues to grow. All of the tournaments this year have had over 80 players register. A few have had over 90. It looks like Cypresswood is going to be close to 100! With this growth, pace of play becomes even more of an issue. Whenever I talk to the course pro's, I am always asked about our pace. Large groups have a reputation for being slow. The longer we take, the fewer players a course can get out when we finish. Courses give us a break on green fees and when they can't get as many public players out when we finish, it further cuts into their income.
